Bloom Energy to Host Charitable 5K Race to Benefit Delaware Veterans, Active Military

USATF-certified race to precede Military Appreciation Day at Blue Hens football game

NEWARK, Del. – October 12, 2022 –Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE), a leading Delaware green energy technology company, will host its Inaugural Stars and Strides Delaware Charitable 5K Race on Saturday, November 12, 2022, to benefit veterans and military families in Delaware. The race, which will precede Military Appreciation Day at the Blue Hens football game, will take place at Bloom Energy on UD STAR Campus and will directly support the Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans and the Delaware National Guard Youth Foundation.

With over 77,000 veterans, 3,500 active military and 2,700 National Guard families in Delaware, Bloom Energy is excited to have this opportunity to give back to our heroes for their service and commitment to our country.

The Stars and Strides Delaware Charitable 5K Race is a USATF-certified event. The course will take runners through the UD STAR campus—200 Christina Parkway, Newark—to the finish line at Bloom Energy’s Newark Manufacturing and Assembly Plant and parking is available. “Everyone deserves a place to call home,” said David Mosley, director of the Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans (DCHV). “With community support, DCHV can provide housing at no cost to our veterans, clothing, nutritious meals, and transportation to and from appointments and job interviews, as well as support services.”

Christopher Slicer, chairman of Delaware National Guard Youth Foundation (DNGYF), says “All our military children willingly serve alongside their parents who are members of the Delaware National Guard. They experience the absences from their parent who leaves the home to serve on yearlong deployments overseas, annual trainings, and drill weekends. They miss milestone moments, birthdays and many school activities and sports games. We lift their spirits through the Foundation’s key programming for our military children which includes bringing them all together for monthly activities, quarterly family events, summer camp, activity grants and scholarships.”
